Bell/Mixson/Reeves Marriage Intertwines

I suppose most families have some curious marriage relationships.
These three seem to have more than their fair share. None of the
marriages discussed involve blood relations; they're just a bit strange.
Maybe "interesting" or "intriquing" would be better words!

The story of "Mr. Bell" is a good example. We (to my knowledge)
never called him "Uncle Claude". He was always "Mr. Bell".
Mr. Bell married Aunt Alice (Alice Gertrude (Mixson) Bell) as his 4th
wife. One has to wonder why, particularly since he walked out on the
third wife and kids for no apparent reason..
Aunt Alice was one of the two remaining unmarried daughters of James
Darlington Mixson. She was quite deaf...stone deaf later in life. I'm told
that James Darlington was very protective of these two daughters. (One
descendant tells me he wanted them to remain home to take care of him.)
(See his will which provides for the care of Aunt Alice and Aunt Lois.)

According to Bell relatives, Mr. Bell just up and walked out on his 3rd wife
Rebecca Carolina Reeves and kids one day. Left them with nothing. (The
Bell family member I talked to tells me the family doesn't think much of him
as a result.)

There's more! Claude Foy Bell's third wife mentioned above is a daughter
of Jonathan Wells Reeves and his second wife.
With his first wife, Jonathan Wells Reeves was the father of
Mary Eugenia (Reeves) Mixson who was the 2nd wife of James Darlington
Mixson, Aunt Alice's father. That makes him (Jonathan) the full grandfather of
Uncles Wilbur, Henry, Charlie and Maxey and Aunts Alice, Bessie and Lois.
Rebecca Carolina (Reeves) Bell was the half sister of Mary Eugenia (Reeves)
Mixson.
So, Aunt Alice and Mr. Bell were niece and uncle (by marriage).

Hold it; there's more! The second wife of Jonathan Wells Reeves, the mother of
Rebecca Carolina (Reeves) Bell was Carolina (Mixson) (Smith) Reeves a sister
of James Darlington. With that, we see that for his second marriage, James
Darlington married the half sister of his niece.

A final convolution...
Of his four marriages, it appears that Mr. Bell had seven children; four by
his first wife and three by his third wife. A daughter of Claude Foy Bell
in his first marriage was Mabel who married Uncle Charlie, Aunt Alice's brother.

OK, I quit. My head hurts.
