One of the better tools you can use is your own common sense and good judgment. In genealogical work, you will find there are many many errors in records you might expect to be accurate. Census records may not have correct names or birth dates. Names are mis-spelled helter skelter. You'll find many errors in data bases on the web. Books that you look at as accurate may not be. One would be well served to verify information from multiple sources, AFTER assuring those sources are independent of one another. |
