Skip A Row...

Jimmy told me the story a good while back about the adage
"Skip a row, one in your family will go". The meaning is that,
when planting a crop, if one misses planting a row someone in
the family will die.
Evidently Uncle Maxey (Jimmy's father) was obsessed with this
as being a gospel truth.
The example is my grandfather Gilbert, Uncle Maxey's half brother.
Grandpa Gilbert died in 1940 at the age of 66 reportedly from
a "stroke of paralysis"
According to Uncle Maxey, they had planted the field behind
the house in a corn crop and Daddy had missed seeding some rows.
Grandpa Gilbert was out doing those missed rows when he died.

Scary, huh?
