Obituary:

John Dupree Vess, 78, of Taylors passed away February 9, 
2011. Mr. Vess was a member of Hampton Heights Baptist Church, 
the Taylors Masonic Lodge and the Hejaz Shrine Temple. He 
is survived by his wife of 60 years, Martha Smoak Vess; three 
daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Earl Clayton, Patsi and 
Lynn Thomason, and Stephanie and Tracy Hopkins; seven grandchildren 
and four great-grandchildren; and his sister, Kathy Vess Quinn. 
Visitation will be held 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday at The Wood 
Mortuary in Greer. Private services will be held at a later 
date. 
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Open Arms Hospice, 
1936 W. Georgia Road, Simpsonville, SC 29680 or Taylors Free 
Medical Clinic, 400 W. Main Street, Taylors, SC 29687.
