JEWEL BRONSON, 93



Jewel Bronson Mixson, 93, passed away on June 22, 2013 at Woodlands Care Center in Gainesville 

surrounded by her family. 

We are all extremely thankful for the excellent care provided by the nursing staff at Woodlands 

throughout her stay there and through her passing. 

Jewell was born in Williston, Florida to James and Icie Bronson. 

Jewell is survived by three loving children, two daughters, Maureen Mixson Richardson (O'Neal, 

deceased) and Janice Mixson McGraw (Larry) and one son Aurice Lynwood Mixson Jr (Lanette). She is 

also survived by seven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. 

In addition to her parents, Jewell was preceded in death by her loving Husband Aurice Lynwood 

Mixson Sr., two sisters, Louise Bronson and Lucy Wadsworth, two brothers, Junior Bronson and 

Mose Walsh and two great-grandchildren.

She enjoyed a 25 year career with The Ocala Star Banner and retired in 1982. 

A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at 11 am with family to accept 

friends one hour prior to service at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 5740 S. Pine Ave. Ocala, FL 34480.
