Ellen M. Smoak 
ORANGEBURG - Mrs. Ellen M. Smoak, 82, of Orangeburg, died Thursday, December 2, 2010, 
in Columbia. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 5, 2010, in 
the Thompson Funeral Home chapel in Orangeburg, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery 
in Orangeburg. The Rev. James Preveaux will officiate. The family will receive friends 
at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. 
in Orangeburg is in charge. Pallbearers will be Billy Baker, Julian Cumbee, Wes Gray, 
David Hutson, Mike Myers and Steve Myers.
Mrs. Smoak, wife of Charles K. Smoak was born May 26, 1928, in Orangeburg County, SC, 
a daughter of the late Ethel Lee (Sweat Martin) Myers and Stephen Platt Myers. She 
wanted to be remembered for being a child of God, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, 
great-grandmother, sister and friend. She also wanted to be known as a caring person, never
having met a stranger and sharing her talents with others. She had retired from Southern 
Bell Telephone and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. She was preceded in death by 
five  sisters, Mazilee Martin Rourk, Maggy Martin Griffin, Bertha Marie Myers Williams, 
Agnes Inez Myers Garrick, Janie Mae Myers Gray; and two brothers, John Joe Martin and 
Stephen Platt Myers Jr.
Survivors include her husband, Charles K. Smoak; one son, Charles K. Smoak Jr. (Rhonda 
Lanier Smoak) of Columbia; three grandchildren, Charles K. Smoak III (Katie Morgan Smoak), 
Brian David Smoak (Brook Eddings Smoak) and Anna Kaye Smoak (fiance', Jacob Daniel Morella), 
all of Columbia; five great-grandchildren, Charles K. Smoak IV, Emily Elizabeth Smoak, Jacob 
Michael Smoak, Benjamin David Smoak and Luke Thomas Smoak, all of Columbia; and a brother, 
Jimmie Myers of Vance.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in 
Orangeburg.
Memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Smoak to the church of your choice.

Healthcare Parklane and Palmetto Health Hospice.
